Investigating and designing

Students develop design briefs that include considerations and constraints and undertake research relevant to the design brief. They are encouraged to think when designing and must come with a range of options to solve the problem and justify their decisions. Students will also investigate and document the materials, tools, equipment and electronic components required to meet the design brief.

Producing

Students implement a range of production processes using tools, equipment and machines safely. They use appropriate PPE when necessary. Students also select material and processes based on their understanding of the properties and characteristics of the material.

Analysing and evaluating

Students use previously developed evaluation criteria to analyse processes, components, materials, tools and equipment and make appropriate suggestions for changes to these to improve outcomes. They will also investigate the social, cultural and environmental impacts of technological systems.
